The nearly 100 year-old historic Pelikan buildings, which provide an impression of history, are the highly visible eye-catchers of this quarter.
Centrally located in the “List” quarter, there is the former production facility of the Pelikan factory
- producer of painting and writing utensils
The “List” quarter is formed by its developed inner city structure and its various Wilhelmian-era buildings and can be considered to be a favoured location. The historic Pelikan buildings also date to the Wilhelmian era and have been carefully and sumptuously refurbished. Around the historic structures, a new quarter centre is growing on an overall area of approx. 100,000 m² of the company Pelikan’s former plant site. It is characterised by the symbiosis of working, living, culture and recreation.
An avenue-like street, branching off from Podbielskistrasse, one of the main arterial roads, was built for the development of the further areas of the former plant site.
